Refugees Thankful For Food Aid Under FreeMakan Campaign

“Put yourself in someone else’s shoes”, a phrase we have heard one too many a times. When one has never gone through violence, devastation and persecution, it can be hard to imagine how life can be difficult for those who have. We see the effects of the pandemic gradually inching its ways into the lives of society, and one of the many groups struggling to sustain are refugees. As of end of July, 179,450 refugees and asylum seekers are registered with UNHCR Malaysia. Ensuring no one is left behind, on 23rd August 2021, FreeMakan partnered with Creador Foundation and Community Mobiliser, Myanmar Muslim Volunteer Group (Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam), reaching out to the refugee community. The FreeMakan Team from BAC delivered 180 grocery packs to Muslim refugees from Myanmar, Pakistan, Indonesia and Bangladesh. We hope that this 3rd round of groceries, going out to this community, helps them keep their heads and hopes up.
